“And He took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when He had taken him in His arms, He said unto them, ‘Whosever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but Him that sent me.’” Mark 9:36-37
The Children’s Department at Woodland Hills Baptist Church strives to reach out to all children in the name of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to provide a positive, Christ-like atmosphere in which children are capable of hearing the Gospel and growing in the likeness of Christ. We encourage each child to learn the truths of the Bible through the various programs that take place on a weekly basis.
Sunday School
Children’s Sunday school classes are offered for children of all ages. It’s never too early to introduce children to the love of God. We want to provide our children with a safe, Christian environment to learn, to feel loved, and to experience biblical truths. Our teachers are positive, adult role models and enjoy seeing your children grow in the understanding of God and His wonderful ways! Sunday school meets at 9:15am before our morning worship service.
PrimeTime & BLAST! Bus Ministry
At Woodland Hills we want to make sure and keep the Main thing, the Main thing! Teaching truths of God’s word, loving God and loving others, memorizing God’s word and hiding it in our hearts, and discipling those entrusted into our care are what we strive to do in our Children’s Ministry. We know that there is no perfect program, but we do serve a perfect God who has given us His written word. We will always keep the Bible as our teaching tool, and use curriculum to provide support and a frame of reference. We know that kids are drawn to Christ by Christ, not by any one program.
2 Timothy 3: 16-17 tells us: All Scripture is God-Breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
The mid-week program for children is called PrimeTime! This will occur on Wednesday evenings from 6:00pm-7:30pm and is designed for children grades Kindergarten—5th Grade. During PrimeTime, children will rotate between a Large Group Bible Study time, game time, and a small group time in which children will begin to develop memory skills; skills that will teach students to effectively handle the Bible, increase the student’s knowledge of the Bible, and learn how to apply the meaning of key passages to their lives through a variety of games and activities. Children will begin in their small group rooms at 6:00 pm above the offices on the second floor. Parents will pick them up from the choir room at 7:30.
Prime Time will be taking place at the same time as our BLAST Bus Ministry on Wednesdays but will have a flip-flopped nightly schedule. Please pray for our children and leaders as we go through this transition time.
