Awesome August 2018

Awesome August kicks off on Sunday, August 5 with the “Back to the Cross” Children’s production at Mason Creek.  On the second, third, and fourth Monday (no evening services the Sunday before) join us for an amazing uplifting service featuring a new guest each Monday!  We will start each special service off with a meal at 6:00pm and the service begins at 7:00pm.  There is no charge for this AWESOME event.  A love offering will be taken.


Sunday, August 5 – “Back to the Cross”

A Kid’s Musical Adventure Through Time

WHBC Kids Choir goes on an inventive, fun-filled, rousing romp through time, discovering the message of the Cross, along the way! In Back to the Cross we find Norman and our cast of characters embarking on a time-travel excursion relying on the questionable reliability of the H/O-2000 Temporal Displacement Modulator…otherwise known as time travel machine. . So jump into the H/O-2000, buckle your seat belts, and embark on a Biblical truth-seeking trek through time!



Monday, August 13 – Dr. Fred Lowery

Having “a wonderful sense of humor, Dr. Fred goes straight to God’s word and offers fresh insight as he communicates the truth of Christianity in practical ways.  Most of his sermons are on the theme of “Faith, Family, and Friends.”

Dr. Fred’s televised service, First Word, began airing on KTBS Channel 3 in June 1983 at 7 AM every Sunday.  His broadcast was the top-rated Sunday program in the tri-state area of northwestern Louisiana, east Texas, and southwestern Arkansas.

Dr. Fred’s book Covenant Marriage:Staying Together for Life was published in 2002.  Other works include:  Faith, Family, and Friends; Four Steps to Restoring Relationships; Home Improvement 101; Jogging Through The Bible; Seven Habits of Highly Successful Marriages; and How to Be Happy and Stay Married.  These books and his sermons can be accessed through this website.

Called to the ministry in 1960 at the age of seventeen, Dr. Fred came to First Baptist Bossier in 1983 at the age of forty. Under his leadership, FBB added a 2,500-seat worship center, remodeled each building on campus, purchased additional land, and added a children’s addition, and a state-of-the-art preschool building called Tiny Town.

Dr. Fred is a former president of the Louisiana Baptist Convention and a former vice president and president of the Pastor’s Conference in the Southern Baptist Convention.  He retired from FBB on January 1, 2014 and was honored as Pastor Emeritus.



Monday, August 20 – Dr. Robert Jeffress

Dr. Robert Jeffress is Senior Pastor of the 13,000-member First Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas and a Fox News Contributor. He is also an adjunct professor at Dallas Theological Seminary.

Dr. Jeffress has made more than 2,000 guest appearances on various radio and television programs and regularly appears on major mainstream media outlets, such as Fox News Channel’s “Fox and Friends,” “Hannity,” “Lou Dobbs Tonight,” “Varney & Co.,” and “Judge Jeanine,” also ABC’s “Good Morning America,” and HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher.”

Dr. Jeffress hosts a daily radio program, Pathway to Victory, that is heard nationwide on over 930 stations in major markets such as Dallas-Fort Worth, New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Seattle. His weekly television program can be seen in 195 countries and on 11,295 cable and satellite systems throughout the world, including China and on the Trinity Broadcasting Network and Daystar.

Dr. Jeffress is the author of 24 books including When Forgiveness Doesn’t Make Sense, Countdown to the Apocalypse, Not All Roads Lead to Heaven, and his newest book, A Place Called Heaven: 10 Surprising Truths About Your Eternal Home, to be released September 2017.

Dr. Jeffress led the congregation in the completion of a $135 million re-creation of its downtown campus. The project is the largest in modern church history and serves as a “spiritual oasis” covering six blocks of downtown Dallas.

Dr. Jeffress graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a D.Min., a Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary, and a B.S. degree from Baylor University. In May 2010, he was awarded a Doctor of Divinity degree from Dallas Baptist University. In June 2011, Dr. Jeffress received the Distinguished Alumnus of the Year award from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Jeffress and his wife Amy have two daughters, Julia and Dorothy, and a son-in-law, Ryan Sadler.



Monday, August 27 – Dr. Joe Arthur

Dr. Joe Arthur is the pastor of Harvest Baptist Tabernacle in Atlanta, Georgia. He also preaches revivals, camp meetings and conferences across the nation and serves as the director of the Greer Baptist Camp Meeting located in Greer, SC.

Dr. Arthur has written  including “I Love To Tell The Story,” “In The Steps Of The Master,” and “Mountain Moving Faith.”  He is one of the most sought after speakers for Bible Conferences and revivals in America.
